#3 AMLA
Amla or Indian gooseberry has been used in ayurveda and other Asian medicinal practices for over thousand of years. Sanskrit nick name of amla names meaning Mother, Nurse, Immortality are the testament of its healing capacity. There is a reason why amla even if it wasn't amla fruit season, it was always a part of Indian diet. Amla is hand down number one immunity booster on this planet. The number one thing required to achieve any fitness goal is immunity. #2 ALMONDS
Almond are superfood. When we discuss about almond i don't mean the California almond which are allover the Indian supermarkets, but our own very desi badam. Yes not only desi badam very much higher in nutritional value but also as an Indian your body will be able to absorb the nutrients from desi bad much better. An excellent source of Omega fatty acids, they are a tonic for brain and heart. As they are naturally high in Vitamin E, they are widely used in cosmetic industry. It is suggested to soak 4-5 almonds in a water overnight and consume them in the morning after peeling of the skin for the maximum absorption of the nutrients. People who are unable to digest the almonds they should have one teaspoon of pure badam rogan oil with warm milk, one hour before going to bed at night. For people who face digestion related issues it is recommended to regularly massage their body with almond oil. If you regularly apply almond oil in your navel and gently massage it in and around no one can stop you to get glowing skin. Make sure to buy desi almonds from a local kirana store.
Now before I reveal my top pick, here are the dishonorable mentions. It is sad that even though India is agriculturally so diversified, we Indians are moving to foreign foods like avocados, berries, exotic capsicums, kiwis and considering them as superfood. Marketing can really do anything. Surely they are healthy but not superfoods. Specially not for us because superfoods are always local. Coming back to the number 1 super food.
